Many people heard it from their parents when they first got behind the wheel, “Driving is a privilege.” However, this statement could not ring truer to everyone, regardless of their age or experience with driving in Oregon. People who engage in dangerous, reckless, careless or irresponsible behavior while behind the wheel are instantly endangering their life, the lives of their passengers and the lives of other motorists and pedestrians around them.

In a tragic accident that happened in Manorville, Long Island, a man is facing serious charges after striking a group of Boy Scouts who were hiking alongside the road he was traveling on while allegedly under the influence. Authorities said the man plowed head-on, into the group of Boy Scouts that left five of them seriously injured. Later on, a 12-year-old boy succumbed to the injuries he received as a result of the collision. Family members, friends and leaders of the boy described him as a hard worker and expressed disbelief and sadness regarding his passing.

While the driver was initially charged with driving under the influence, it is anticipated that the charges he is facing will be upgraded to account for the boy’s death. The other four boys who were injured in the accident remained hospitalized as they recover from their injuries.

If people have been the victims of a drunk driving accident, they may benefit from the assistance of a trusted attorney. A legal professional has the capabilities to provide support and knowledge that can provide relief to victims and allow them time to focus on their recovery.
